Genre Definition of:

Horror:           An overwhelming feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, terrifying or revolting; a shuddering fear

-          Origin: <Latin> to bristle with fear
-          Genre: Horror fiction is a genre of literature which is intended to or has capacity to frighten its readers, induce feelings of horror and terror. Horror can be either supernatural or non-supernatural

Thriller:          A thing or person that thrills, an exciting, suspenseful play or story, especially a mystery story

-          Origin: 1885 – 90; 1920 – 25
-          Genre: Depicting crime, mystery, espionage, in an atmosphere of excitement and suspense

Mystery:         Anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown, as to arouse curiosity and speculation

-          Origin: 1275 – 1325 <Middle English> mysterie; <Latin> mystērium; <Greek> mystērion = mýs ( tēs ) an initiate into the mysteries
-          Genre: sub-genre of crime-film and at times thriller genre
